Day Six

The staff at Area 51 had many commitments in San Francisco and Oakland today, which presented some timing and logistical challenges to the normal animal husbandry program. In order to keep our pack happy, we started the day a little early with a walk along the trail and a steep climb to catch a better view of Mt. Diablo poking through the cloud cover. It was purposefully strenuous in an effort to tire everyone out for the day, while the menagerie were to be left unattended.
Once they were well exercised, we returned home for breakfast. Stretch helped in the kitchen and Dexter assisted with a few calls before the pups were left and this writer headed to lunch in SF and then a warehouse tour in Oakland with our new investors.
As the tour wound down, a speedy (as much as possible with rush hour traffic restored) return was made to base to let the dogs back outside and to feed them dinner. The kitchen staff has instituted a new procedure to allow Dexter to eat in peace outside, but his sister is still scheming on how to access his meal. They were so very excited to see their chaperone, but quickly reverted to exhaustion in the early evening sun.
Then it was a trip back to SF for a delicious meal of seafood and steak… it’s just too bad that our canine crew couldn’t join. They certainly would have relished in the opulence and flavors.
At the end of the night, the pups were so tired that they didn’t even initially notice the staff’s return. Once they stirred, though, it was back outside for some investigation of various wild animal noises, before we all turned in.
Health Information: Dexter weighed in, again, at 20 pounds. No issues with any of their poop. Here it’s worth noting that in addition to Bella’s energy level, Dexter has not once produced any fouls smelling farts. The kitchen staff suggests that this diet may be preferable to their normal one. No medications seemed to be required, other than the prescription for Bella of Ofloxacin, which was administered for the third day.
